Making new friends in the USA
Introduction
A piece of advise is not to limit your circle of friends to South Africans, if you are serious about adjusting to your new country of
residence. You can meet quality American friends in a number of ways. Why not start by looking for local clubs organizing your favorite activities, such as golf, bowling, sports etc.?
Pubs and Restaurants
Given the American popular culture of dining out, restaurants are plentiful and affordable. The fast-food industry is booming (Nando's recently opened up in San Francisco) and take-out is nearly as cheap as doing your own cooking.
If you are looking to make new friends, you should consider joining a local wine-tasting or culinary club. If you are looking for a food experience, experience your local restaurants and/or search the Internet for restaurant guides and suggestions. Clubs and Societies
Moving to a new country is a huge step, especially if you are relocating with your family. Working professionals will most likely meet new people through work and networking opportunities and kids will easily make new friends at school.
