Relocation to South Africa - shopping

Introduction

South African shops have everything that you may need and expect in a developed country.  Typically South African shops are clustered in Shopping Malls or Centres.  Over the past couple of years the cost of shopping has escalated beyond the "good value" level it used to enjoy so remember to shop around for larger items.

South Africa has a number of large supermarkets that offer good value for money on your monthly shop. These stores are:

Again when it comes to buying electrical goods you should try the following stores:Be aware when you buy anything electrical, the plug does not usually come with it - so always buy a spare plug.

Clothes Shopping

Clothes in South Africa are vibrant and colourful. There are many great stores and boutiques to choose from. The major retailing chains include:The prices of clothes is relatively inexpensive.  However when purchasing imported fabrics or designs the cost can spiral so always look for local products first.
