Hi all.. have been considering immigrating for 4 years now..just talk.

Now we have finally decided that this is what we want.. a better life for our kids.. baby 5months & son 7years old.

Hubby has 18 years experience as a Boilermaker..but no vocational training..He is now applying to do his Trade Test.. finally... I know.. should have applied when it was on the CSL.

Hope his experience and finally the trade test will be enough for us to apply. I have been working for 15 years as an accountant/bookeeper & is on my second year Bcom(information systems).. going very slow.

Decided to take it one step at a time & at the moment we have lots to get done before we put in the applications.

Hope to get all the help and support on this forum & willing to give all the help & support to others in my situation.

Hi to you. Am based in Port Elizabeth and decided 2 months ago (actually, much like you, a couple of years ago for the first time, but now it's for real!) to move to Australia. Have been for an assessment with a migration agent and I qualify. The agent obviously made it sound like the whole process is difficult but I am considering going it alone and applying without an agent. Are you using an agent?
I liked what you said about getting and giving assistance re the immigration process. I share your sentiments, so although you are probably further along with your process, I extend the same.

Hi Emi
Even thou we live in Jhb, my OH is working in PE.
He has been there for 7 months now.
We are considering using ASA, but since it is very expensive we decided to wait till December to appoint them. We need lots of help to get the TRA assesment done, so that is why I feel we need the assistance of an agent.
We have not done much, as my OH is in PE and trying to get his Trade Test done there, but to no avail as we cannot find a place that gives classes after hours and on weekends. This is the only time that my OH has, as he is working on contract.
I am also trying to find out if my OH can  get his AQF111 certificate in South Africa as I know it is offered in the UK.

Hope all works out well for you.

Hello Sai,
Unless your husband has his N2/3 from the time he completed his training then he will not get a positive assessment from TRA and he will need an AQF Cert III.  The only company I am aware of that issues AQF Cert III in his trade is ATA based in the UK.

I hope this helps.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your assistance.
I have been doing alot of research and did contact ATA and Oz Assess  in Australia.
ATA is proving to be the cheaper option(not very cheap mind you) for now.
Will post updates here.

Hi All, I am quite new to this post.

I have applied for an RSMS visa for Australia. My Application has been sent off on 21 August 2009. I have e-mailed the agent that deals with my case to actually find out if a case officer has been assigned to my application and her response was just, do not stress and No a CO has not been assigned to it as yet.

Any help on how I can find out how long my application will still be in Parramatta Offices?

Hi Abba,

With your RSMS application, do you have an employer that is sponsoring you?
Has the nomination & sponsorship application been lodged?

Just curious as it does require a sponsor and if you do have one, have you thought about applying for a 457 visa (temp work permit)? This will get you there quicker.

:-)

Hi Littlewinged_bella,

I do have an employer who is sponsoring me, the company sponsorship has been lodged and approved. My visa application was lodged on 21 Aug and up till today I have not received any response or notification that a CO has been assigned.

The empolyer wanted me start work in Nov but looks like that will not happen as I will also have to work out my notice period.

All my paper work was sent off including my meds and also PCC.

I am getting fed up about the waiting period. I have also read on so many websites that the RSMS is Priority Processing and does not take that long.

;-)

Hi, thanks so much for your feedback. I have received a response from my agent and a case worker has been assigned to my Application. I could have been granted a visa but they seem to have not completed with my Sons medicals. That has been sent off so now I am waiting from a response from his medicals. Hopefully if I get a response in a week or two I will then be in Oz in January month....
