Dear V-Town family,

we're in Tipton, Black country, probably about an 1 hours drive from you.  We've also been in UK 10 years now.  We're from Wellington, Western Cape originally.

I love Stuart Francis butchery boerewors, it's the best tasting and best priced in comparison to any other online supplier we've ever tried out over the years, and have been asking them for ages who buys their meat products in Wolverhampton, as for us to drive to WV is closer than Coventry.  Do you know what the shop name & address is, please?

If we make a trip up to Wolverhampton at some point, we can stop by and we can go out for a drink or something.  At the moment our weekends are pretty busy, got loads of garden landscaping that needs finishing off inbetween all the usual housework and stuff.

Star Keep well!

Hi,

Thanks for the help.  I think i am going to make an order from the savanna shop.

I realised that i have actually been to Stuart Francis' shop before, Abantu butchery, so I'm going to get some Biltong from there.

I'm still open to anymore help.

Thanks
p.s, How long to keoksisters last?  i don't want to make the order too soon if they go out of date

Hi AntzPixie,

koeksisters can last up to 3 month in the freezer, best place to keep them anyway, just take 'em out 5min or so before you eat it, perfect.  I actualy make koeksisters myself (homebaking runs in the family!Wink), just go to my website www.hilton-online.co.uk to place an order.

If ordering from Savanna, their koeksisters were horrible, doughy and syrup consistency wasn't right at all.  St Marcus's koeksisters is how they should be, perfect and crispy.  It is difficult to know who to place your orders with, I know, we learnt the hard way, by trying all of them!, now we know what we can get where.Big%20smile

Just ask away if you need anymore help, don't mind at all!

We recently moved to Birmingham from london.   We have found it quite difficult to hook up with South africans here, also finding SA pubs and shops has proved touch.

However, there is a wonderful buther in Kings Heath who makes the BEST boerewors and stocks a few basic SA products.

I also get a lot of stuff sent from a SA market stall in Bishops Stortford.   They are so helpful  SOMETHING SOUTH AFRICAN MARKET STALL.  On facebook this is the link : http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bishops-Stortford-United-Kingdom/Something-South-African-Market-Stall/10150160161885425

Are there any older south africans living in this area?  55+ ?   My husband is sports mad and would love to discuss sport with someone that does not sit and grunt at the appropriate places !!

Hi Heather Smile!
Ian and Amelia here, we're in Tipton now, but Edgbaston was our first 'stop-over' when we came to UK 10 years ago.  Lovely place, I actually miss it sometimes!  But we've become a couple of blackcountry folk now!

Would love to meet up.  Having a garden party bbq later in August, will definately invite you!  We're only 30+something ourselves, but tend to get along better with the 'older' folk! hahaha, most of our friends are in late 40's or older!

Ian's not much of a sports fanatic, will watch when SA play rugby or cricket, and we watched a bit of the worldcup soccer, once SA got knocked out we were rooting for Holland, then it didn't happen for them which was very sad... He's more an american car fanatic, but men are easy... just give 'em beer and bbq and leave them too it! while us girls 'skinder' about other stuff!

Our weekends are a bit busy at the moment, but maybe I'll text you next weekend and we can meet up at your place or maybe The Dog pub off Hagley road?  Have a nice week! Big%20smile

Hi Thomas and Hannelie,

We are also SA Homeschoolers, living in Coventry.  Although we are an English speaking family, my Afrikaans is not too bad.  I have 7 children, ranging from 21 years down to 4 years (so not all technically children anymore!!)  I would love to get together with you sometime if you'd like that1

Juliet
PS. Ons sal graag al daardie terte en koeksusters uittoets!! :)

Hi there,

We're in a village just outside Hinckley.  We have a 16 year old son that goes to JCC and is doing his A levels (just finished his GCSE's)

Just had a lovely braai in the last of the "summer" sun!

We don't have small children but still enjoy a nice sit down and visit.  Also been here 9 years now and like Juliet am English speaking (Afrikaans is VERY rusty)

Keep in touch.
